EIGHT people – including a former Eurovision singer – were brought before Carrick-on-Suir district court in Co Waterford last night, following a row in the town early on Saturday morning.

The seven men and one woman included Chris Doran from Waterford city, who represented Ireland in the 2004 Eurovision, coming 23rd out of 24 entries.

All eight have been remanded on bail and are due back in court in July.

Each of the accused face one charge of violence or threatening to use violence in an incident alleged to have taken place shortly after 9am yesterday in Sean Kelly square.

Three of the eight were arrested in Carrick-On-Suir, while the other five were arrested in Clonmel.

Chris Doran won the You're A Star competition on RTE in 2004 and represented Ireland in the Eurovision in Istanbul.

He was remanded on bail on his own bond of €500 and is due back in court on July 4.

Afterwards, he was driven away by members of his family. He is to reside at his apartment in Tramore and has to observe a curfew from 11pm to 7am each night.

Of the eight, six have addresses in Clonmel, one in Fethard in Co Tipperary and one in Tramore.
