Drunk youth carried wall puncher as a weapon
A YOUTH has admitted possessing a tool - used for punching holes in a wall - as a weapon.
The 17-year-old boy, who has developed a cannabis problem, had been arrested on a night in January last year following reports of youths causing a disturbance.
The Dublin Children's Court heard that the teenager was abusive to gardaí and told them to “f*** off” several times. He was arrested under the Public Order Act and brought to a north Dublin garda station where was found in possession of a “puncher”.
Judge Ann Ryan heard that the teen had no prior criminal convictions and had been heavily intoxicated on the night of his arrest. He is getting counselling for a cannabis problem and plans to get back onto a training course.
Judge Ryan asked for a probation report on him to be prepared and adjourned sentencing until a date in March.
