Drugs worth €240k seized in joint garda and revenue operation

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 60s following a drug seizure on Friday.

Gardaí and Revenue Commissioners have confirmed that approximately 12kgs of Cannabis Herb, with an estimated street value of €240,000, was seized in Balbriggan, Co Dublin.

The discovery was made during an "intelligence led, joint operation" by officers of the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB).

During the course of the operation, one man was arrested for Drug Trafficking Offences and detained at Swords Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The man has been charged with Drug Trafficking Offences and subsequently appeared before Dublin District Court where he was remanded in Custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday, December, 13 at 10.30am.
