Bail for woman charged with brother's murder

THE book of evidence has been served on a woman charged with the murder of her brother, writes Conor Kane.

Caroline Brennan (18, pictured right), of Love Lane, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, was in Kilkenny District Court yesterday where she was remanded on continuing bail for another two weeks.

She is accused of murdering her brother, Michael Brennan (22), who died after a party in his uncle's house at Barrack Street, Castlecomer, on December 30 last.

Mr Brennan was found with a knife wound at about 3.30am on that date and pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor.

At yesterday's court hearing, state solicitor Gerry Meaney said that the book of evidence in relation to the murder charge had been served on Ms Brennan that morning.

Solicitor for the accused, Michael Lanigan, asked for the case to be adjourned for another two weeks.

Judge William Harnett adjourned the case until June 2.
