Alsatian owner fined €500 after failing to pay €30 fine

FAILING to pay a €30 fine for having two uncontrolled alsatians has cost a man €450, Tallaght Court has heard.

Christopher Porter from Sarto Park in Naas was summonsed to appear before the court for having two uncontrolled dogs at Newcastle Village on November 30, 2011.

There was no appearance from Porter in court.

South Dublin County Council Dog Warden John O'Driscoll told Judge John Lindsay that on the above date he responded to a phone call that two alsatians were in Newcastle village.

Arriving at the village, he said he found the dogs, one black and one tan and took them to the county dog pound.

He said that Porter later claimed the dogs on December 6 and he issued a €30 fine. Mr Porter said the fine had not been paid.

Mr O'Driscoll told the court that alsatians are a restricted breed and the two dogs had not been muzzled.

Judge Lindsay fined Porter €250 and ordered him to pay €200 costs to SDCC.
