A TV STAR was behind bars last night after he pleaded guilty to robbing a city centre business of more than €5,000.

Craig Fitzpatrick (25) -- who starred in the hit series 'Shameless' and BBC's 'Waterloo Road' -- was extradited from the UK to Ireland yesterday by gardai after a European arrest warrant had been issued for him.

The well-known actor was then brought before Judge Eugene O'Kelly at a special sitting of Limerick District Court last night.

Detective Garda Pat Whelan of Roxboro garda station told the court that he arrested Fitzpatrick at Shannon Airport at 5.05pm yesterday.

Fitzpatrick, who is originally from Manchester and formerly of Emmet Place, St Joseph's Street, Limerick, pleaded guilty to robbing Meed Beauty in Parnell Street, Limerick, on August 15, 2009 of €5,200.

He previously appeared before Limerick District Court on September 18, 2009, and was released on his own bail, but failed to turn up at his next appearance on October 29, 2009.

A bench warrant was issued for his arrest and a European arrest warrant was issued in 2010.

Solicitor John Devane said Fitzpatrick was a lookout in the robbery and said his client was offering a plea of guilty to the court and was not making any application for bail.

Fitzpatrick was remanded in custody to appear before the same court again next Tuesday when he will be sentenced by the judge.
