€21,500 for funfair terror girl
A NINE-year-old girl held on to her seat for dear life after watching a friend's mother being flung 40ft from a funfair ride, a court heard.
Nicole Moore, now aged 15, had been on a Superbowl ride in Millennium Park, Blanchardstown, Dublin, when the incident happened in 2007. Yesterday, a judge approved a settlement offer of €21,500.
Barrister Eileen McAuley said when a safety bar came loose, Nicole, of Tyrone Place, Inchicore, Dublin, watched her friend's mum, who was not named, thrown into the air. The woman was taken to hospital after the 40ft fall.
Ms McAuley said Nicole, who sued Colin Cullen, trading as Funfest, of Oakleigh, Celbridge Co Kildare through her mum Mandy, now had a fear of heights and has flashbacks.
