A four-year-old boy was awarded €120,000 in the High Court after he lost the tops of two fingers in an accident in a creche.

Dawid Galek, now six, was injured and required plastic surgery when a part of a basketball unit fell on him.

Dawid lost a little bit of the top of two fingers, the ring and little fingers, in the incident. Dawid, from Waterside Walk, Malahide, Co Dublin, through his father Krzysztof Galek, sued Kids Inc Ltd, which runs a creche at Seatown Road, Swords, Co Dublin. The legal action was settled for €120,000.

It was claimed that while under the care, management, supervision and control of Kids Inc, part of a basketball unit fell on his left hand in September 2012.
