Couple moves to Oz after €6m win
THE lucky winners of a €6m Lotto jackpot with a ticket bought in Cork have moved to Australia after collecting their winnings.
Shane O'Neill, who was employed as a nurse at Cork University Hospital, and his wife quit their jobs in the wake of their win earlier this month and moved down under.
The couple, who have a young child, hit the Lotto jackpot on June 9.
The recession was declared officially over for the couple as they travelled to Dublin from their home in Cork a few days later to pick up their Lotto win of €6,068,570.
Mrs O'Neill said she had played the same numbers for six years.
"I was listening to local radio when they called out the lucky numbers. They sounded familiar but I wasn't sure about one of them so I got my husband to check the ticket. We couldn't believe it."
The couple bought their €16 multi-draw ticket in the Tesco in Wilton Shopping Centre in Cork.
