Couple (50s) arrested after €200k worth of drugs seized in Dublin
A couple in their 50s have been arrested after drugs worth over €200,000 were discovered in a house in Dublin.
The search was carried out at around 10pm last night in Raheny, North Dublin.
Independent.ie has learned that cocaine, cannabis herb and cannabis resin was discovered at the property by the North Central Divisional Drugs.
The Irish man and woman, both in their late 50s, were arrested under section 2 of the drug trafficking act and can be held for seven days.
They are detained in Store Street garda station.
A source said the Garda raid was launched after a car was stopped and drugs were found at a routine traffic check point earlier in the evening.
The investigation is ongoing.
A Garda spokesman said: "Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality."
