Constant raffles finally pay off
BERTIE Ahern has finally seen his assiduous purchasing of raffle tickets pay off. Mr Ahern, when describing the famed "political donation for my personal use" said he used to spend hundreds of euro a week on raffles.
When a business or individual gave him money, he would usually give it to the constituency, he told the Mahon Tribunal on February 21, 2008.
"When I would be asked to buy, to participate in draws or raffles, or give donations to humanitarian issues I would give it out of my own money. I can't take it out of my constituency money," he said.
