Conrad to star in fly-on-wall TV documentary
HE has been arrested, extradited and publicly humiliated by a spate of high-profile business failures, but it appears prodigal celebrity chef Conrad Gallagher has no intention of keeping out of the limelight.
The chef's return to the Irish culinary scene is being filmed for a fly-on-the-wall documentary. Cameras were rolling when he opened the doors of his new Salon des Saveurs restaurant on Dublin's Aungier Street last week.
Dalkey-based film director Steve O'Reilly (38) is the man behind the camera for the reality series, expected to be shown in Ireland, Britain and South Africa -- where Gallagher lived until last year.
"Whatever Conrad Gallagher does, wherever Conrad Gallagher goes -- there's always drama. I don't think anyone would turn off a programme about Conrad Gallagher," a source close to the chef said.
Last summer, the Donegal chef moved back to Ireland with his wife Candice Coetzee and their two young sons -- four-year-old Chandler and two-year-old Con -- after the collapse of his restaurant in Cape Town.
Declared bankrupt his assets in South Africa, including cars and properties, were auctioned to pay off debts of €187,000.
