Comrade Eamon's romance in Paris
What's that Eamon? A hop across to Paris for the weekend? Sounds mah-velous. The Tanaiste surprised people by jetting to France to bask in Mr Hollande's glow this weekend.
The pair are socialist chums in the PES European grouping and comrades have to show solidarity in victory, if not defeat.
Eamon's favourite backbencher, Meath East's Dominic Hannigan, was also brought along for the jaunt, as were advisors Mark Garrett and Jean O'Mahony.
Indeed, so chuffed was Dominic that he tweeted through the weekend as excitedly as a teenager at a One Direction concert.
"In Paris with Eamon on the way to Hollande's HQ," shrieked Dominic via twitter at one stage. "It seems like the result will be tight here!"
A right socialist carry on, comrade.
Mr Gilmore's handlers were also quick to insist the bill was picked up by the Labour Party and not the Government.
