Compensation costs hit €4.7m
THE Law Society, the ruling body for solicitors, shut down Michael Lynn's legal practice in October 2007.
Since then, the society's compensation fund has admitted claims totalling €4.7m in respect of complaints against Mr Lynn.
Mr Lynn was struck off the solicitor's roll in May 2008 and ordered to pay €2m to the compensation fund.
The fine has not been paid and the society has paid out €2.57m to date, not including its legal costs.
The director general of the society, Ken Murphy, said: "The solicitors' profession is delighted that there has been significant progress today towards the return of Michael Lynn to at last to face his many victims."
