Collar and tie go well with cuffs
JAILED businessman Sean Quinn Jnr did not have to suffer the indignity of being handcuffed to a prison officer in uniform as he was led into the Four Courts yesterday for his appeal.
Instead, he was handcuffed to a prison officer dressed in a suit.
But the Prison Service made it clear last night that they were not giving preferential treatment.
A spokesman said Quinn was being held in the Training Unit, where all of the jail staff work in plainclothes.
Prisoners are normally escorted to the courts by members of the Prison Service escort corps, who wear uniforms. But this service was not available.
