Closure of popular wedding hotel leaves couples heartbroken
Heartbroken couples have had their wedding dreams ruined on the eve of St Valentine's Day after a popular hotel shut its doors.
Aherlow House Hotel, in County Tipperary, confirmed it had closed on Thursday night, leaving dozens of couples in dismay.
Pamela Doyle, from Cashel, was due to marry her fiancé Brendan Heffernan at the venue and said that she was determined to get her €1,500 deposit back.
"We were going to have a civil ceremony at the hotel, so it would have cost about €10,000. All I want to do is get our money back now," she said.
Receiver to Aherlow House Hotel, Grant Thornton, last night said it was engaging with parties who wished to reopen the hotel.
