Closure of dessert firm to cost 27 jobs
MORE than two dozen staff are to lose their jobs following the closure of an American-owned chilled dessert company.
Kozy Shack Ireland, based at Lough Egish, Co Monaghan, has announced that the company is winding down due to "difficult market conditions".
All 27 staff will be made redundant.
Unlike its American counterpart, which is a market leader, the Irish operation has been suffering financially since it was bought last year by US food giant Land O'Lakes.
"The company has commenced a 30-day consultation period with the 27 employees involved, and we greatly regret the impact today's announcement will have on our employees," the company said in a statement last night.
