Cigarettes and tobacco worth €11,000 seized in raid targeting illegal trade on Moore Street
Some 13,000 cigarettes and 8.8 kilograms of tobacco were seized by Revenue officers yesterday during a raid on two residences last night.
The raid was carried out in the Dublin 7 area at 10pm, as part of an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal trade in cigarettes and tobacco on Moore Street in Dublin’s City Centre.
The combined retail value of the cigarettes branded "Excellence", "Marlboro”, “Jim”, “MG” and "169", and tobacco branded "Flandria", is around €11,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €8,700.
A spokesperson for Revenue said investigations are ongoing and a file is being prepared for prosecution.
