IT'S not unusual for TDs to run for office. It's not even unusual for TDS to run for cover in the lead-up to the annual Budget.

But it's definitely unusual for TDs to run marathons -- and that's precisely what two Fine Gael deputies plan to do later this month when they run the Dublin Marathon in aid of Barnardos.

Meath West deputy Damien English and Wexford's Liam Twomey will also use the 26-mile race to promote a Yes vote in the Children's Referendum, which takes place on November 10.
