A child has died after collapsing during a family trip to an amusement park.

The boy is believed to have been just ten years old.

Witnesses told the Irish News he appeared to "just faint" at the park.

An ambulance rushed to the Pleasureland funfair on the Central Promenade in Newcastle, Co Down, yesterday afternoon and took the child to Belfast's Royal Victoria Children's Hospital, but he later died.

The amusement park was shut immediately for police to examine the scene, however the death is not believed to be suspicious.
