Che's daughter backs 1916 site
THE eldest daughter of legendary revolutionary Che Guevara has thrown her support behind a campaign to save the building where the 1916 Rising leaders made their last stand.
Cuban-born Dr Aleida Guevara March toured the area around 16 Moore Street with James Connolly Heron, great-grandson of James Connolly.
The terraced building has fallen into disrepair over the years and there is little to suggest its historic importance -- except a 50-year-old plaque.
"I come from a country where we try to preserve history at all costs so that the younger generation can learn from it," Ms Guevara March said, speaking through a translator.
