Charity No1 singer Julie Anne loses battle with cancer
A MOTHER who knocked Lady Gaga off the top of the Irish charts in a bid to raise funds for cancer sufferers died yesterday.
Julie Anne Dineen, who lived in Adare, Co Limerick, died following a lengthy battle with cancer at Milford Care Centre in Limerick. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.
Former mayor of Limerick, Maria Byrne, said Julie Anne was a very special person. "She did so much for the good of others, but didn't let her own sickness hold her back."
In March 2009, Mrs Dineen (41) went straight to number one in the Irish charts with her single, 'Do You Believe'. All proceeds went to Symptomatic Breast Cancer Care Unit at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
Mrs Dineen is survived be her husband Dave and sons Sean (12) and Matty (8).
