Charities feel the pinch as CRC board quits en masse

MORE charities are expecting a drop in donations in the wake of the CRC top-up scandal.

It came as the 10 remaining directors on the clinic's board resigned en masse.

The HSE announced that it had taken control of the clinic on an interim basis. The Public Accounts Committee said it will legally compel the former board to attend its meetings, should they attempt to pull out.

Oxfam, Focus Ireland, St Vincent de Paul and Aware have followed Bothar in reporting a fall-off in donations on this time last year. Oxfam said its Christmas Unwrapped appeal had so far generated €96,037, a 43pc drop from the 2012 figure of €166,537.
