Celebrity cooks have a taste for the Irish market
• Gordon Ramsay: opened a restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt Hotel in Co Wicklow in 2007, just before the recession hit, but appears to have weathered the storm well. He will be visiting it this July.
• Marco Pierre White: involved in two Dublin restaurants, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill on Dawson Street and Frankie's, which he runs in partnership with jockey Frankie Dettori.
• Gary Rhodes: the TV chef raised eyebrows when he opted to go north of the Liffey to open Rhodes D7 in July 2006. The 250-seat restaurant closed its doors in 2009 for refurbishment but never re-opened.
