A number of car dealerships in Co Donegal are joining forces to raise money for cancer research.

The Donegal International Car Push 2017 is a race between 11 of Donegal’s main car dealers to raise money for Relay for Life Donegal.

The car dealerships are coming together to maximise their impact and raise vital funds.

"It's going to be a fun event supported by the main car dealerships in Letterkenny. We decided this year we would all come together to raise vital funds for the fight against cancer."

The event is taking place on Thursday May 25 at 7pm at the Canal Road, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Each dealer has a team of eight who push their car for three kilometres leaving the start line at two minute intervals and racing against the clock.

The cars are being pushed by staff members of each of the 11 garages in Donegal.

To add to the excitement and the fun of the event each dealer is getting a Rally Driver/Celebrity to steer the car around the course.

Celebrity drivers include Eugene Donnelly, Garry Jennings, Manus Kelly, Badminton player Chloe Magee as well as previous Rally winners.

All funds raised before and during the Relay for Life Donegal event this year will go directly to a major research programme presently underway at Letterkenny University Hospital for cancer survivors.
