Car crash boy 'critical'

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy and his mother were left fighting for their lives after a horror two-car collision in Co Laois. The accident happened at around 8.30pm on the Portlaoise Road, about a mile outside Portarlington.

The woman had to be cut from the car by the emergency services and was rushed to hospital with her son. Both had suffered severe injuries and were in a critical condition.

A six-year-old boy who was also in the car and the driver of the second car received minor injuries.

A MAN and woman have been charged with the attempted robbery of a Dublin city petrol station while allegedly armed with a knife and wearing balaclavas.

John Paul Lennon (33), from St Anthony's Park in Rialto, and Danielle Kane (31) from Mountbrown, were charged at Dublin District Court in relation to the attempted robbery of the Esso filling station on Usher's Quay on Wednesday night.


A YOUNG Irishman who suffered a serious brain injury after a fall on a construction site in Canada has died.

Conor Curtin, in his mid-20s and from Ardagh, Co Limerick, was working as an engineer in Toronto when the incident occurred a fortnight ago. His family have travelled to Canada to recover his body.


MYSTICS, love gurus and sacred musicians will descend on Ireland this weekend for an Easter celebration.

The event dubbed a holistic spiritual celebration takes place on Saturday in Dublin's RDS. Hundreds are expected to flock to see the Conscious Concert, where Margot Anand, known as the world's love guru, will perform. She's acclaimed for delving back into the roots of sexuality to teach people to be more loving to the world.
