Callinan in major reshuffle of his senior officers
GARDA Commissioner Martin Callinan has carried out the biggest reshuffle of his senior officers for more than a year.
Almost 40 have been transferred to new posts around the country.
Three of the newly promoted chief superintendents – Pat Mangan, Fergus Healy and Tony McLoughlin – will be based at garda headquarters in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, while Barry O'Brien is moving to Castlebar, Co Mayo. Michael Sullivan moves from Galway to the national traffic bureau, and Tom Curley from Castlebar to Galway. The new detective superintendent in Dublin south central division is Peter O'Boyle, while Colm Fox is moving to the national traffic bureau and J J Keane to the bureau of criminal investigation.
Supt Lorraine Wheatley is switching from Terenure to Donnybrook in Dublin.
The changes take effect from next week.
