Cabin Fever: O'Leary joins Ryanair girls to strip for calendar
RYANAIR'S controversial calendar gets people hot under the collar every year when female cabin crew strip off to help raise funds for charity.
This year -- no doubt mindful of possible allegations of sexism -- Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary manfully whipped off his own clothes to join staff for a photo shoot.
The airline chief stripped down to a pair of garish swimming togs and donned a pair of flippers and a snorkel while posing with the crew members at yesterday's launch of the 2012 calendar.
This year all proceeds are going to Irish charity DEBRA. It helps people suffering from a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which makes their skin fragile. The charity was chosen from more than 400 applicants.
The proceeds from the calendar, which are expected to reach €100,000, will allow 50 families who have children with EB to enjoy a respite week in DEBRA's specially adapted holiday home in Malaga, Spain.
Emma Foghery (27), from Abbeyleix in Co Laois, said the calendar would enable her to go on a stress-free holiday with her family.
"At least you have no worries going over there and you know someone is going to be there who knows what they are doing," she said.
DEBRA's fundraising manager Susan Woodcock said the charity was delighted to be selected.
She added: "The exposure alone will be phenomenal because we are not a well known charity."
The calendar costs €10 to buy from www.ryanair.ie.
