OVER one in 10 small firms plans to take on new staff over the next three months.
The devastated jobs market appears set for a boost after the Small Firms Association revealed its members' outlook on recruitment has improved.
A total of 14pc of the members it surveyed said they would recruit in the first quarter of this year, an improvement of 7pc from the same time last year.
However, 24pc said they would reduce numbers.
Director of the Small Firms Association, Avine McNally, said the figures were a "positive move in the right direction" and would hopefully increase.
