Bus Eireann staff vote to avoid strike
BUS workers have voted overwhelmingly to accept changes in their terms and conditions, which will result in no further strike action on Bus Eireann services.
Members of SIPTU voted by 63 to 31 to accept the deal, while the NBRU ballot was 77 to 23.
The development comes after a two-day strike last month where 80,000 passengers each day were left without a service.
However, following overnight talks at the Labour Relations Commission, management and unions agreed to a cost-cutting plan aimed at saving €5m a year.
Workers were asked to ballot on the proposals, which were accepted.
The deal runs until January 2015.
