Bus camera may have captured fatal collision

GARDAI are investigating whether the on-board security camera in a passing bus may have captured a fatal collision between a moped and a car.

The motorcyclist -- named locally as Amanda Carroll (25) from Ballyphehane, Cork, -- died when the moped she was riding crashed with a car on Sarsfield Road, just off Cork's South Ring Road.

The accident happened at 11pm on Monday night and, despite the motorcyclist being rushed to Cork University Hospital, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, was uninjured but was treated at the scene for shock.

Togher gardai appealed for witnesses to contact them at (021) 4947120.
