Brudder Ahern is just spitting in the wind
Fianna Fail TD Noel Ahern has been bringing up the issue of spitting in public in the Dail.
Were people spitting more due to the bad taste left in their mouth by the recession? Or were people even being disrespectful to politicians when they met them on the street?
The Brudder Ahern explained it was much simpler than that, he was just raising the issue on behalf of a public-spirited constituent.
But you might want to know that you can get away with spitting saliva on the street -- but it is against the law (the Litter Pollution Act 1997) to spit out your chewing gum.
Hock away, so, is the net result of Noel's inquiries.
