Boys rescued after raft sinks

TWO 13-year-old boys were rescued last night after their make-shift raft sank in a pond.

The youngsters got into trouble when their barrel raft sank in a pond in Dunleer, Co Louth. The boys managed to scramble onto an island. The alert was raised about 7.45pm.

The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre organised a rescue mission and the boys were picked up by the crew of the Drogheda Coast Guard boat.
