Boy's mother disappears without trace

Grainne Cunningham

THE husband of a woman who vanished three weeks ago has said he does not know what to say to his two-year-old son.

The family of Esra Uyrun (39), of Clondalkin in Dublin, are beginning to fear the worst because, despite all their efforts, not a trace of her has been found.

Her husband Ozgur said he had tried to shield their little boy Emin and to distract him but, as time goes by, he knows he must give him some answers.

"The most difficult thing is to explain to my son. I can't tell him she is lost, dead or in hospital," he said.

Esra, who is from Turkey, disappeared after going out to the shop one morning. She was last seen on February 23 around 7am. Her car was later found in a car park at the seafront in Bray, Co Wicklow.

And though she was grieving after the recent death of her father, her family is adamant she would never have left her toddler son of her own accord.

Esra's sister Berna Fidan believes that she was either murdered or kidnapped.

The missing woman has medium-brown hair with blonde highlights, green eyes and is of slim build.

She is 5ft 3in and was wearing black leggings, brown boots, a black T-shirt and either a black jumper or a blue denim jacket.
