An 11-year-old boy was killed when the pony and trap he was travelling on was involved in a collision with a truck.

The fatal accident occurred on St Cuthberts Rd, Clondalkin, Dublin this afternoon at around 1.40pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.

The two other boys that were also travelling on the pony and trap were uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene of the collision.
