There's a massive fight brewing in the Independent Alliance - but don't worry, it's not a threat to the stability of the Government.

Kevin 'Boxer' Moran is on the warpath and he has the full backing of the Alliance. The Westmeath TD has agreed to revive his boxing career for one night only in aid of Pieta House.

He will take part in the 'Ready to Rumble Fight Night' at the Radisson Hotel in Athlone tonight.

Mr Moran told the Irish Independent becoming a TD had made him a target for many, but he was confident there would be no knockout.

He will spar with Gerard Tiernan of Pieta House in the final bout of the night.

"We've both said that once we're in the ring there'll be no charity. The gloves will be on and we're fighting," said Mr Moran, who is involved with the Na Fianna boxing club.

If he doesn't win, there might actually be trouble among his colleagues who are sponsoring his efforts.
