Bomb scare as homes evacuated due to suspect device
The Army Bomb Disposal Team were called to deal with a suspect device in Co. Kildare earlier today.
The team were called to a rural area near Monasterevin on request from An Garda Síochána at 1.20pm.
A number of homes were evacuated and the area was cordoned off for a full examination.
The scene was declared safe at 2.25pm and material evidence was handed over to the gardaí.
This is the first Army Bomb Disposal call-out of 2017, there were a total of 96 call-outs in 2016.
