Body of man in road crash undiscovered for 10 hours

A driver may have crashed his car into a wall 10 hours before his body was discovered, gardai said.

The 40-year-old man was killed in the collision at Adrigole Bridge in Co Cork, on the R572 Bantry to Castletownbere road.

Gardai believe the crash happened between 2am and 3am, but the scene was not discovered until noon.

Investigators have appealed to anyone who passed the scene during the morning to come forward.

The road remains closed with local diversions in place as investigations continue.

A post-mortem will take place on Monday at Cork University Hospital.
