A BODY has been recovered in the search for a missing oyster fisherman who got cut off from shore overnight.

It is understood that four men were working on oyster beds near Kilrush in Co Clare in the early hours of this morning when they got into difficulty.

The four were using tractors and trailers at Poulnasherry Bay but got cut off from the shore when the tide came in.

Emergency services were alerted - and three of the men were rescued by a local boat in the early hours.

However the fourth - a man in his 50s - tried to swim to shore, and then disappeared.

A body was recovered at Poulnasherry Bay shortly before 11am.
