THE body of missing schoolgirl Chloe Kinsella has been recovered from the River Shannon in Limerick City.

The 15-year old from Kenyon Avenue, Kileely, had been missing for six days.

A major search involving hundreds of volunteers, Limerick Marine Search and Rescue, and the Shannon-based Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter, has now ended.

Divers attached to Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service recovered the teenager's remains at Brown's Quay, Thomondgate/Kileely shortly before midday.

Chloe's sister Linsey (23), positively identified the remains at the scene where a large crowd had gathered.

The body has been removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem.

A press briefing is to be held at Kileely Community Centre at 2pm.
