By Aishling Phelan

A SEARCH team has found the boat missing Armagh angler Daryl Burke was fishing on when it sank in turbulent weather almost two weeks ago.

One angler died and another man is recovering in hospital after they got into difficulty fishing on Lough Ree in Co. Westmeath.

The boat was found at around 7pm yesterday evening by the Lough Ree sub aqua club.

It was located in the Ballybay area of Hodson Bay sitting in 5 metres of water.

Garda and Naval divers will make a dive this morning, with a team due to meet on site at around 9am to assess weather conditions.

The three anglers were members of a fishing club based in Portadown, Co Armagh who had set off on an angling trip from Hodson Bay in Co Roscommon.

They got into difficulty in windy conditions near Athlone.

The 27-year-old angler named as David Warnock was recovered from the water but died in hospital while a third man was hospitalised.

The 30-year-old missing man is believed to be a married father of three young children from Armagh.

The men departed in two Dory boats but the crew of one of the boats returned and expressed concerns about the men in the second vessel.

A RNLI Lifeboat recovered one man in the water a short time later.

The 60-year-old, who was understood to have been conscious at the time, was brought to Hodson Bay before being transferred to Portiuncla Hospital in Ballinasloe.
