Big hitters lend support for 2023 World Cup bid

U2 and Bob Geldof have joined forces with Brian O'Driscoll and Leo Varadkar to try and bring the Rugby World Cup tournament to Ireland.

The Ireland 2023 Rugby World Cup bid presentation delegation, which will present in London on September 25, has been unveiled - including Sports Minister Shane Ross; chairman of Ireland 2023 oversight board Dick Spring; Irish women's rugby captain Niamh Briggs; and Kieran McLoughlin, worldwide president and CEO of The Ireland Funds.

It will also feature video from U2 and Bob Geldof's rendition of WB Yeats's poem 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree'.
