A driver stopped by gardaí - in a car which had been crashed twice - failed a roadside drug test and had no insurance or licence.

Gardaí released the image of the wrecked car on Twitter after it was stopped by the traffic corps on the M18.

The driver had been involved in two crashes but kept driving.

When stopped it emerged that the drivers also had no insurance, no licence and went on to fail a roadside drug test.

Writing on Twitter gardaí said that there will be a "big day out in court to follow".

Separately gardaí in Dublin responded to an unusual call out this morning when a number of horses managed to get onto the N2 slip-road on the M50 Northbound.
