Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will cast aside the concerns of the Mahon Tribunal to host an event to pay tribute to the contribution made to the northern peace process by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Mr Ahern will honour Mr Blair at a gala dinner in Dublin Castle on April 11, before he addresses the US Congress at the end of the month.
The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and will be attended by US Senator George Mitchell, who has been made an honorary Irish citizen for his work on the peace process.
Leaders from many spheres of Irish life will gather at Dublin Castle for the event, which is also a fundraiser for the 'Turn The Tide of Suicide' (3Ts) organisation.
"The value of human life and its fragility was always foremost in our minds during [the peace negotiations]," said Mr Ahern.
