A search party will take place this morning for a young man who has been missing since the early hours of Thursday morning.

Gardai, family, friends, military personnel and the wider community are combining efforts in a bid to find the whereabouts of Ben Garrett.

Mr Garrett (21) was last seen in the Eglington Street area of Galway City at approximately 01.45am on Thursday morning.

He is described as being around 6ft in height with short brown hair and of athletic build.

When last seen he was wearing dark jeans and a light blue round-neck jumper.

It is believed Mr Garrett left the Carbon nightclub and possibly headed towards the Eyre Square area.

Family and friends have organised a search party which will take place this morning in the Galway city area.

Military personnel will begin their search from the Army Barracks at approximately 10am.

The wider community is asked to meet at 11am at Millstreet Garda Station.

"We would really appreciate if you could come and help," a family member wrote on Facebook.
