Belfast braced for disruption with G8 summit

BELFAST traders are bracing their businesses for potential disruption and damage next weekend as Northern Ireland prepares to welcome the leaders of the world’s eight richest economies to County Fermanagh.

Additional security measures will be introduced at some city centre stores and other businesses to cope with the estimated thousands of protestors expected to attend an ‘anti-capitalist’ rally in the city centre next Saturday.

International protestors from around the globe are expected to attend one demonstration organised by the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance union which represents many civil servants.
