This awesome footage shows Storm Abigail doing her worst against Ireland's north coast yesterday.

While a status yellow wind warning was in full effect, storm-force winds lashed Cruit Island off Donegal.

Iain Miller from http://uniqueascent.ie/ took this footage and witnessed waves averaging five metres in height.

Western counties were hardest hit as Abigail hit counties Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Sligo in particular, with gales reaching 120kmh in some areas.

The rest of the country also felt nature's wrath as the strong winds swept in from across the Atlantic, bringing with them high tides and heavy downpours.

Tomorrow is expected to be wet and breezy, while scattered rain will affect many parts on Sunday.
