Audits on dioceses to be published
CHILD abuse investigators will release audits of six Catholic dioceses next Wednesday -- and one diocese has hired a top PR company ahead of publication.
It's thought that audits of both the Derry and Raphoe dioceses and up to four others will be released by the church-run National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church.
Collectively, the audits will say there were dozens of alleged paedophile priests in the dioceses, although the Irish Independent understands that they will not deal with allegations prior to 1975.
The Raphoe Diocese has hired the leading Dublin public relations company Insight Consulting to handle the media.
Insight PR executive Michael Keane said he was only looking after media relations for the diocese.
"I am not looking after the PR for the national board," he said. "Details of the release of the Diocese of Raphoe audit will be issued next week."
Meanwhile, a leading Catholic priest in Derry is being tipped to take over from retired Bishop Seamus Hegarty.
Monsignor Eamon Martin was appointed Vicar General of the diocese 16 months ago and is said to be "well liked".
