Army makes safe viable explosive device thrown through window

THE Army bomb disposal team has made safe an improvised explosive device thrown through the window of a house in Coolock, Dublin early this morning.

At approximately 2.15am the device shattered a pane of glass after it was thrown through the downstairs sitting room window at Belcamp Crescent in Dublin 17.

The Army team was drafted in and made the viable device safe without the need for a controlled explosion.

The area was cordoned off and a number of houses were evacuated.

It was then removed to a secure military location for a technical examination.
