Army Bomb Disposal Team make safe device in Limerick

A number of houses and businesses were evacuated

The Army Bomb Disposal Team were called out to deal with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rathkeale in Limerick today.

According to the Defence Forces, they were called to the scene by Gardai and they arrived shortly after 12.15pm.

At that stage a number of local houses and businesses were evacuated for safety reasons.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team removed the device to a secure location for examination shortly after 2pm where the device was made safe.
